The Ruston Community Theatre Youth Program began in 2016 with the production of Beauty and the Beast, Jr directed by Steele Moegle. As RCT expanded, Steele saw a need to create a bigger opportunity for the growing number of RCT youth participants. She has been directing summer junior musicals ever since. In 2020, Tami Lockwood Alexander directed Junie B. Jones, Jr., expanding our youth program even more! Tami has continued to direct junior productions annually. RCT youth has grown to include two youth shows per year with up to 100 auditionees!
In the Fall of 2021, Zoë Graham helped found the Ruston Community Theatre Youth Council. Its goal is to grow the youth program and give the younger members of RCT a voice. The youth council board consists of two youth members from each grade of high school. This past year, the board has fulfilled its mission by developing and selling RCT merchandise, putting on a youth directed scene festival, setting up an informational booth at the Peach Festival, and more!
